March 2008
Dear Amazing Changer,
Thank you so much for your contribution of time and for your signature to our petition to abolish modern day slavery.
Thanks to you, we received over 127,000 names and with my volunteer staff, we cut and pasted these signatures
on scrolls. With each scroll being 110 feet in length, we still haven't finished mounting all the names after
completing 5 scrolls!
These names were then added to Stop The Traffik's names and together we presented these 1.5 million signatures
to the UN's Global Initiative to Fight Trafficking (UN.GIFT) on February 13, 2008 in Vienna, Austria. A video
of the names included a photo of one of our scrolls which can be seen on the web site. The Executive Director
of the UN Office of Drugs and Crime, along with Ricky Martin, were pleased and honored to receive these
names. Know that your signature combined with 1.5 million others became one single voice that echoed loudly
to the world at the UNGIFT conference.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your partnership. We encourage you to take even more steps to abolish this $32 billion dollar industry and be the change that ends slavery in our lifetime. We want to stay in touch with you to inform you of new efforts being launched -- especially by students -- to address some of the biggest problems facing the world today.
